SABI Mind Launches Equitable Access Program

Client-centered psychedelic-assisted-therapy clinic removes barriers for underserved and underrepresented populations by increasing access to innovative pain and mental health care treatments.

CALGARY, ALBERTA [October 26, 2022]: SABI Mind is proud to introduce a new program that will provide access to chronic pain and mental health care for members of historically underserved, underrepresented, or low income patient populations. The Equitable Access Program and SABI New Wholeness Fund will reduce financial barriers and provide further access to innovative pain management and mental health care treatments. Discounted services or fully subsidized treatments will be provided by SABI Mind.

“Access to innovative mental health care and pain management treatment is crucial in helping individuals heal,” states President of SABI Mind, Philippe Lucas PhD. “Over 2.3 million Canadians who seek mental health treatments reported that their needs were unmet due to financial barriers, lack of awareness of services, and social stigma. SABI Mind is working to remove these barriers in order to provide increased access to psychedelic-assisted therapies to traditionally underserved patient populations and to those with the most urgent and immediate needs.”

The Equitable Access Program specifically benefits select groups by providing 10% off all services at SABI Mind, no application required:

  • Seniors: Those that are aged 65 years or older.

  • Essential Workers: Individuals that work in health and medical, public safety and security, food and shelter, energy, utilities, transportation, industrial, oil and gas, construction, agriculture, essential retail, financial services, information and telecommunications, and public administration and government.

  • Hospitality Workers: Anyone that works in the hospitality industry (i.e. restaurants, bars and hotels).

  • Low Discretionary Income Earner: Those with low levels of discretionary income struggling to pay for expenses outside of the essentials.

Additionally, in an effort to increase access for individuals living below the poverty line, SABI Mind will donate 5% of revenue from all sales and services to the SABI New Wholeness Fund. The fund will periodically provide up to 100% coverage for qualifying patients. Applicants to the New Wholeness Fund will be required to provide proof of income to qualify.
